Project Zero Inventory: Week 5 - Starting Over

Month 2 of the Project of the Month

If you have been following along with my Project of the Month series, then you might have noticed I haven’t posted about it for the past few weeks. First off, if you noticed that, then thanks for noticing! Second, let me explain what happened.

The Dilemma

Last month I introduced Project Zero Inventory. The idea is that I wanted to experiment with on-demand manufacturing as a way to test out market demand for a product before sinking money into a costly minimum order. I have a friend with a 3D printer, and he said I could use it to experiment with the idea.

But then life got in the way!

I created a few designs for 3D printing, but due to a few unexpected circumstances, I was not able to print any of them.

So I definitely learned from that. Moving forward, if I want to pick a Project of the Month that I build in public, I need to make sure that the project doesn’t depend too heavily on factors outside of my control. Or better yet, I can present finished projects each month, writing about them retrospectively.

Project of the Month… Again.

So with all that in mind, I’m extending Project Zero Inventory into August. Part of this will be printing and selling the designs I made last month, but part of this will be expanding the zero inventory philosophy into new product ideas.
